HS Coach: Johnny Goodleaderman - "Jake is one of the most talented lefties I've coached in years. He has good command of 3 pitches: FB, CB, and CH and his command covers both sides of the plate. He is a tough nosed competitor who thrives in big game situations. Also, unlike some young men, Jake is not phased by things he can't control: cold weather, errors behind him, or an occasional bad call. His talent will get him far, but his poise, maturity and work ethic separate him from other student athletes he plays with and against. He is one of the hardest workers I've had in my program in a long time. I feel he a legitimate college baseball prospect at any level."
Summer/Fall Coach: Garrett Berger: - "Jake is a very talented player with a tremendous upside. He pitching style and delivery most resembles a young Ted Lilly. He had good command of his fastball, a plus curve, and a decent change-up that can get much better and more consistent. I pitch him against the best teams all summer and he is a true competitor. Although he hold runners at the high school level, he needs work on his pick off move to first. He fields his position like an athlete and happens to be a great hitter, outfielder and baserunner. His lean athletic build can easily carry 25 more lbs. In my opinion, he will be a solid DI or DII pitching prospect in the rotation or out of the pen."
